Oskar Kokoschka - Exhibition

One good thing about living in Vienna is the huge amount of museums and galleries. My lately reawakened interest for Kokoschka will take me to two exhibitions within the next weeks. The first visit will be at the Belvedere where they have the early years as their topic and there´ll be also one about his late work at the Albertina starting on April the 11th. I´ll post about that later.

Das Mädchen Li und ich 1907/1908

Dreaming Lad- Enfant Terrible

Lower Belvedere
24 January to 12 May 2008

The exhibition shows the early work of Oskar Kokoschka, the leading exponent of Austrian Expressionism. This unique exhibition is the first presentation on this scale devoted exclusively to the early phase of Kokoschka's work. The creative phases of his graphics are juxtaposed to his painted works, throwing light on Kokoschka's development from a student at the College of Decorative Arts to an independent artist. Besides his first works produced as a student, there are also exhibits taken from Kokoschka's literary work and his early paintings and drawings.
