Tulipa 2006 - A shared identity

The tulip was braught to the Netherlands from Turkey by Dutch diplomats. As a popular symbol for life and fertility it was commonly used in textile patterns for the Kaftans of the Sultans and as a pattern in different ceramic objects. The vases are an expression of a shared identity by combining the shapes of traditional Dutch Tulip vases with the traditional tulip patterns from the Turkish Kaftans.

PS 2004 - upgrading materials

This bowl is made of around 300 used coffee cups. Everyday many Polystyrene cups are used and thrown away. This bowl, called PS, shows that waste can get a new quality by treating it with care instead of throwing it in the garbage bag. This bowl recycles waste by up-cycling it, instead of todays down-cycling.
