Camille Rousseau

What Camille says about her bags:

"A corporate object which has been re-appropriated and used to reflect a contemporary urban life style.
Dealing with the preconception of this consumer icon, I took the surface of a carrier bag to capture a moment, taking the object as a passing reflection of the city. The ephemeral object becomes a witness of time and space. In selecting details of the city and linking an individual story to each bag, I aim to recreate a stage showing several perspectives of the city.I wanted a physical link between the drawings and the reality. The set itself becomes the city; connecting people to different locations.
Moreover the bag connects people in buying, carrying and exchanging goods.I like the concept that people are sharing the same experience but in different place, within a different context. Through the new bags they carry their personal journeys with them.
The natural paper stock is also indicative of a wide range of value, either food, everyday or luxury goods. The neutral form and color of the bag provided a blank canvas upon which to illustrate my first impressions of London."
